While out hiking this Sunday, came across this old car rusting away alongside the trail. Two doors, V8 engine with what looked like a 2 barrel carb and cast iron intake manifold.

Thinking it looks like a '52 Ford kind of? That's my guess. What's yours?

I think you're right. Also I have to wonder if the gun shots got there before or after it was left for dead.

Was about to say the same thing. The grille looks more like a Dodge than a Ford.

I thought he was right at first, but the markers are wrong, the chrome grill line lines up through the center of the markers on the Ford instead of tangent to the top, and the actual construction of the chrome line would look different from the angle of the photo (its too deep, and is fluted - I looked at some other pictures). Plus the center boss had no evidence of being there. I am convinced it's a '53 Dodge.

Yep! That has to be it, thanks! I'm pretty happy that while hiking, before doing any research on it, I guessed the car to be a '52 Chevy or Ford. Pretty darn close on the year.
